While these two hay bale beds, the Rancher Bale Bed and the Chisholm Trail Bale Bed, each have different features, there are a couple of universal innovative design features that can be found in all of our bale beds. Some of the shared design features built into each of our bale beds include:

Free-Float Arm System—This unique system allows individuals to unroll hay while maintaining complete contact with the ground, helping to prevent skips and thick blankets of hay. Use this feature to distribute feed evenly and reduce excessive waste.

Locking Valve System—The hay bale bed locking valve stops the arms from moving outward when transporting hay bales, significantly limiting additional truck frame stress.

Chisholm Trail Bale Bed

Our Chisholm Trail Bale Bed is the bale bed for farmers and ranchers who need help feeding livestock and transporting hay and want a top-of-the-line product. This specialty after-market steel bed is manufactured in six different sizes to fit your specific pickup truck and is fully equipped with a dump bed function completely unique to this bed. This extremely versatile unit is considered by many the ultimate bale bed because of its feature-rich design, ease of operation, and competitive pricing. Additional features specific to the Chisholm Trail Bale Bed include:

Dumping Feature—Our unique dumping feature expands your capabilities and allows you to handle hay and dump materials from the comfort of your cab. With no other unit on the market with the same capabilities, the arm lift capacity can hold up to 2,850 pounds, with a bed dump capacity of 6,000 pounds.

Independent Arm Action—This hay bale bed utilizes two squeeze cylinders rather than a phasing cylinder for better squeeze and maneuverability. This means that you can move the arms separately or in tandem for easier bale retrieval when stacked end-to-end. You can also haul up to four 4’ rounds side-by-side with a dual-wheel pickup or squeeze a large 4’ by 8’ square bale end-to-end or from the side.

No-Need-to-Jack Trailers—To hook up a gooseneck trailer, simply raise the bed until the jack stand is off the ground, store the jack, and lower the bed. No cranking necessary!

Rancher Bale Bed

If you are looking for the best value in a bale bed, the Rancher Bale Bed is the fit for you. At C5 Manufacturing, we understand that ranching and farming is tough work, so we have manufactured a hay bale bed that offers the same quality and rugged build as our state-of-the-art Chisholm Trail Bale Bed, but at a more affordable price. This bale bed is available in nine different sizes and is fully equipped with synchronized arm action and a loading capacity of up to 3,000 pounds, allowing you to load two to three bales of hay at once. The synchronized arm action specific to this bale bed allows bales of hay to be loaded and unloaded from your truck easily, and the built-in arm spinners help unroll your bales of hay. Additional features specific to the Rancher Bale Bed include:

New Power Unit—This bale bed has a newer, faster electric over hydraulic power unit with piloted check valves on each hydraulic circuit. There is a 22 percent faster pump to help move your hay quicker and safer than ever before.

Synchronized Arm Cylinders—This hay bale bed utilizes phasing arm cylinders to create a synchronized arm movement, differing from the independent arm control found in our Chisholm Trail Bale Bed. Because of this, the arms move in and out in tandem to create a simpler and more economical system.
